PREVENT A LITTER AND FIX YOUR CRITTER

SPAY NEUTER iNCENTIVE PROGRAM (SNIP)

Spay Neuter incentive Program (SNiP)

Picture

SNiP is Funds for Furry Friend's own Spay/Neuter incentive Program. The fund offers a low-cost spaying and neutering for low income families.  The program is designed to help promote spaying and neutering, and to prevent pet overpopulation.

Families that are unable to afford to spay and neuter their pets can contact us and receive assistance altering their animals.

This program is designed for families of a low income, and cases are assessed on an individual basis.  This program is designed to prevent unwanted litters, and to create incentive to adopt from our local pound.

WHY SPAY AND NEUTER?
  • Spaying and neutering will help your pet live a longer and happier life.
  • Eliminate the possibility of uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, testicular cancer and prostate disease.
  • Greatly reduces the incidence of mammary tumors, especially when you spay before the first heat cycle.
  • Neutering reduces the likelihood of behaviors such as marking and spraying.
  • Many females will whine, yowl, and cry during their heat. The heat cycle in female dogs lasts an average of 6-12 days and happens twice a year.  The heat cycle in cats lasts approximately 6-7 days, and happens 3+ times a year.
  • Animals that are spayed or neutered are less likely to wander the neighborhood, run away and act aggressively towards other animals.
  • Communities spend thousands of dollars each year on unwanted pets.
