Abby and Scout came into Funds for Furry Friends in 2018 and took some time to adjust to their new surroundings. They were not in the best condition upon arrival with Abby's toenails having grown into the bottom of her paws and Scout having an abscess tooth that had ruptured among other things. We quickly had them seen by a vet where they both had badly needed dental surgery as well as correcting any other obvious health issues at the time. From there, the two Chihuahuas took a great amount of time to trust their foster parents. Both dogs were even terrified of being picked up. They were obviously a bonded pair so the thought of ever separating them was not possible. Even now, both dogs prefer to find a soft spot on the couch to curl up and don't engage in cuddling with their foster parents. They are both very afraid of being on leash. Scout has a very protective personality, especially when it comes to Abby, and doesn't trust when people come to visit. We decided that given their ages and the ongoing work it takes to help them overcome their pasts, that relocating them would be the worst possible thing to do for them. They have loving foster parents who understand them and are fully committed to providing these two a home to settle in permanently where they can be themselves.
