Wizard is a cute and very unique little dog. He looks like an American Eskimo with a short muzzle like a Shih Tzu. Wizard is a really nice little guy, he is friendly and very social, especially with other dogs. Wizard was surrendered when he kept getting out of his yard that didn’t have a proper fence. His current foster home has a chain link fence and Wizard has not even tried to get out even though he probably could get out if he dug just a little in a few spots where there is a gap between the ground and the chain link. But he seems quite content in an area with visual boundaries and is trustworthy outside on his own. He will be vocal outside to alert you if someone is walking beside the fence, but he is really quiet in the house. He adores other dogs and can be quite a flirty fellow but he might be a bit too much for most cats. He tends to bark and jump if a cat is sitting out of reach and would take a run at them if given the chance. He's all talk but his mannerisms around cats tend to make most cats pretty unhappy. Wizard is kennel trained but he can be completely trusted if left alone with the run of the house. He does not get into things and is also completely house-broken. Although he does need to mark his territory in a new place so he needs to be watched closely in new environments for the first couple of visits. Even though he absolutely loves playing with his foster brother, loves the dog park and doggie daycare, if he doesn?t have something to do, he?ll be relaxing and his off switch is easily triggered. Like most small dogs, he will test the rules, but it isn?t difficult to convince him of who?s the boss and he doesn?t oppose getting his hair brushed, his feet washed or his teeth brushed. The only thing that he still doesn?t like is getting his nails clipped. He learns fairly quickly and is still working on some of his leash manners. He definitely knows what the flexi-leash is about and seems to have some training with a running collar so is just working on the controlled walk without the training collar. He knows sit, down, over, ?dance? and has more capacity to learn. His re-call is fairly good when he?s not distracted and after he?s visited with everyone in the dog park. Wizard gets along with all dogs and people whether they are big, small, young or old. All in all, Wizard is a very cute and cuddly little guy who is on the search for his perfect forever home.
