Total (Rottie X)
Description Last Updated: February 14th, 2010
Those who ask what difference does it make saving just one have not witnessed the joy of the one who is saved!

Rottie X - Neutered Male - 2 years old (Born in 2008)
Height: 27-28" | Weight: 90lbs (Approx. - underweight)

Total just arrived in rescue after spending a couple weeks with his rescuer. He is a Rotweiler X - probably with Malamute in there. He has a very thick coat and a curly tail too! Total appears to have been stray for along time. He is used to being outside and would be happiest in a home where he can live outside. Total does not like being indoors and can be quite destructive in the house. This big fella is pretty good loose in the yard, but he will need some boundaries training to teach him to stick close. Total seems to prefer eating snow to actually drinking from a bowl - another sign he has spent a long time stray. To remedy this, we have been mixing water in with his food. Total can be protective of his food and seems to do best fed separately from other dogs. Total was very underweight when he was first rescued, and still needs to gain a little more weight. Again, this is likely the result of being stray for an extended period of time. Despite adapting to outside life and surviving with limited food and water - Total is an absolute doll! He has a great temperment and is very friendly and affectionate with everyone he meets. He has great manners and does not jump up on new people. Total handles pretty good on leash but is not a fellow who is happy to be tied on a line. He will get bored and chew. Total is loving and affection boy. He is very respectful of men, and can be almost a wee bit shy with them initially (but is passes quickly!) Total is good with kids and seems to love all people. He is quite good with other animals too. He has been fine with other dogs he has met so far (with the exception on one dog that really didn't like him!) Total did attempt to chase one of the horses when his rescuer brought him home - boy was he surprised when the horse wound up chasing him! Total could probably go to a home with livestock, but would need some boundaries and limitation set. This big fellow is very sweet natured and he has wonderful manners - but he does need a little training. Total is scheduled to be neutered Tuesday - we will update his description soon with more information. (Outside Home Only!)
