The
Shelter of Hope fund is a special fund allocated to cover
the costs of providing shelter to rescue animals. In many
cases the rescue takes in cats and dogs facing euthanasia
at the local pound to prevent an untimely death and offer
them a safe place until a suitable foster home opens up.
The foster home program was Shahna's vision for the rescue.
She never wanted a shelter environment, but she always
dreamed of having a safe haven for animals until those
loving foster families were found.
Shahna had always hoped to have a temporary place to put the extra animals while waiting for the right foster homes. The funds collected through the Shahna's Shelter of Hope fund had the big dream of the rescue owning it's own until for temporary boarding - as we do believe that the animals are best off, ultimately, in foster homes. Shahna also saw this fund as a resource to cover the costs of temporary boarding for any animal, as a holding place until space opens up in a foster home. The Shahna's Shelter of Hope ultimately assists with the preservation of life, creating an option - a place to go - for animals that would otherwise have been euthanized.
This fund has been
set-up in memory of Shahna Rice,
the founder of Funds for Furry Friends.
