Sadie came into rescue back in 2007 when her owners had to move out of the country, and their workplace arrangements did not leave any room for pets. She was adopted last fall, and has recently been returned to rescue through no fault of her own. This senior chocolate lab is desperately seeking a retirement home where she can enjoy walks, car rides and time with people who will love her. You'd have to look far and wide
to find a friendlier, happier dog than Sadie. She's a super
sweet dog who loves everyone she meets - dogs, cats, people,
children. She wants to be with her people all the time and
be in on everything that's going on. Her tail is always wagging, but when she is
really happy or excited watch out! Her tail goes into overdrive
and can really pack a wallop! (She won best tail wagger at
Carberry's Bark in the Park event.) Sadie is fully housebroken
and can easily handle a long day without an accident. She is fantastic loose in the house, and she never
destroys things or gets into trouble. Sadie is a pretty laid back girl, which does come partially from her age. When she came into rescue back in 2007, Sadie was over 100lbs and extremely overweight. Before she was adopted this fall, regular walks and a controlled diet had taken Sadie down to a very impressive, perfect 76lbs. Since her return, she has gone back up, and at 88lb she will need to get back on her weight loss plan. Sadie's weight is a concern, as she is arthritic, and extra weight adds stress on her joints, which can make it difficult for her to get around. We have placed Sadie back on metacam for her arthritis, and she is also taking glucosamine/chondrotin suppliments. We have also been treating Sadie with cartrophen injections, which we have found are a great benefit to her. She tends to get quite stiff if her injections aren't kept up - but as long as she has her medication, Sadie is one happy girl. We are looking for a home for Sadie where her needs can be met and she can live out her life. Sadie is a special girl and she really just needs a special home where she can hang out with a laid back dog or
a even few felines - this pretty girl just wants to be a part of the family and she is, once again, back in rescue looking for her forever home. (Indoor Home Only!)
