Rio is a very gentle dog who came into rescue after he was surrendered to a vet clinic. He was initially brought into the clinic to have quills removed, and during his vet visit his weight was a bit of a concern. It would seem Rio has been foraging for a while and he is a bit thin. He will be neutered as soon as he has had a chance to put on a bit of weight. Rio is a very nervous boy, and he takes time to warm up to new people. He is a soft, shy personality, and with a bit of time he does show his very affectionate side. Things like the leash are quite new to Rio, but he is getting lots of practice! He is quite shy in new situations and is a bit worried when meeting new people. Rio is a nice boy, he just needs someone with a little time and patience to move forward. Rio is good with both cats and dogs, and his soft nature makes him quite easy to introduce. We are not sure Rio would be ideal for a home with kids, as quick movements seem to make him worry. He is quite non-confrontational and tends to avoid (or run from) things that make him nervous. While Rio is still new to rescue, he has captured many hearts. He will need someone with time and patience to devote to him, to help boost his confidence. With a little TLC this very sweey boy will make someone an amazing companion. (Indoor Home Only!)
