Lost
and Found Pets...
Please be aware that if you find a pet you
legally MUST turn the animal into your local animal impound
to give the owners an opportunity to reclaim the animal.
If you wish to adopt the animal, should a home not be
located, ask the impound facility to contact you if the
animal is not reclaimed. Animal impounds are designed
to hold animals for owners to reclaim them, but can be
at risk of being euthanized if the owners do not come
in the elotted time period. We do try and assist whenever
possible - if you have dropped off a dog and wish to let
us know about it, please contact
us!

Reporting Animal Abuse
If you suspect animal abuse is taking place, contact your local animal control or area pound first.
In Winnipeg, contact the Winnipeg Humane Society cruelty and abuse line at 204-982-2028 - in Brandon contact the Brandon City Police Animal Control Unit at 204-729-2345. If you are unsure of where to call, check with your town or rural municipality office, as they should be able to direct you. In the event you are in a rural area and are unable to locate your local animal control, contact the RCMP for your area. (RCMP Headquarters for Manitoba is 204-983-5420) Individual detachment numbers can be located at here.
For serious situations or cases the require further investigation, the Provincial Vet may need to get involved. Some reasons a case can be reported to the Provincial Vet are:
- lacking adequate food and water
- exposed to extreme cold or heat
- not provided with suitable medical attention if wounded or ill
- confined in an area of insufficient space
- kept in unsanitary conditions
- confined without adequate ventilation
- not allowed an opportunity for sufficient exercise
- suffering, seriously injured or in extreme anxiety or distress
- An unlicensed breeding operation or kennel.
Contact the Provincial Vet at (204) 945-8000 or email animalcare@gov.mb.ca.
The reporting form can be accessed here.
The animal care act for Manitoba can be accessed here: Manitoba Animal Care Act.
Pet Sitting
Services in Brandon...
We have been asked, on numerous occassions,
if the rescue would be willing to care for a pet during
an extended period of time, or in some cases even for a
weekend. We need our foster homes for the dogs in rescue
and can not volunteer their services for pet sitting. There
are, however, a few options if you are looking for pet sitting
services:
