Relay is a wonderful little dog that for some strange reason seems to keep getting overlooked. He is a nice size (below the knee and about 30 pounds) and a sturdy, "durable" dog. Great for someone looking for a smaller dog, but doesn't want one of the many and various Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apso, Bichon Frise mixes out there. When Relay first arrived in rescue, he was pretty timid and unsure about new things. He relied on the resident dogs in his foster home to "show him the ropes". He was uncertain about walking on leash, car rides, and even coming into the house. Not anymore! He loves going for "walkies" and walks very well on leash. He also really enjoys car rides and anything he can do with his people.
In January/February, Relay attended and completed the Manners 1 training at Crocus Obedience and Kennel Club. He did very well in class and made his foster mom very proud. Relay gets along with most other dogs. He loves to play and wrestle with the Border Collie in his foster home. He is good with the cats in the home as well. But the one thing that Relay loves most in the world and more than "walkies" and playing with his canine "big brother" is human cuddles. Even at the dog park, Relay would play with other dogs, but would soon seek out a human that would pet him. This little guy just wants your approval and to be love and accepted. He looks at you with his big, soft brown eyes and you can't help but melt. Although a home with another dog isn't mandatory for Relay's adoption, it certainly would make his transition easier. He is still timid in new situations. A home with young children would not be best for Relay, he gets nervous around loud, high pitched voices and sudden and rapid movements. He does need an home that will keep him active and continue his training. and above all, give him LOTS of cuddles. (Indoor Home Only!)
