Foster Homes Urgently Needed!
Last Updated: August 9th, 2010
Those who ask what difference
does it make saving just one have not witnessed the joy of
the one who is saved!
Over the August long weekend, a large number of dogs were dumped at the local city pound, and Funds for Furry Friends has struggled to make room for an extra EIGHT new dogs in rescue. With a lack of space, the rescue was forced to place the dogs into boarding, to prevent them from being euthanized...
In addition to high numbers coming through the pound this summer, the rescue has a waiting list of dogs that are anxiously awaiting placement in the fostering system. We work very hard to manage extra dogs, boarding animals when space runs low, but there is such an influx of dogs, the rescue is very worried the will have to start turning dogs away.
We are in desperate need of foster homes to help us care for the dogs in overflow. The rescue is based in Southwestern Manitoba, and we do need foster homes in this area. We are looking for people willing to sign on as babysitters, to care for dogs while we seek permanent placement for them. If you are interested in helping out by fostering, please check out our fostering page. If you have questions that are not answered there, please email us.
If you are unable to foster, you can help us out by making a donation towards the boarding costs the rescue is paying to care for all of the extra dogs in our program. The rescue pays $65.00 per week for each of the dogs in overflow, and we currently have 14 dogs in overflow. We desperately need donations to help us manage these costs until we are able to get this number down significantly... If you can help, your donation will go directly towards the costs of boarding the dogs in overflow.
SEPTEMBER 28th, 2010 - UPDATE: Dogs continue to come into rescue at an overwhelming rate. We have been trying desperately to manage an overflow of about 12-14 dogs over the last month and we really do need help. We normally have 4-5 dogs in overflow, but this is more than double the amount we are used to having beyond what our fostering capacity is. Requests to take in dogs continue to come in, and we don't want to turn anyone away! We are still in need of more foster homes or donations to help cover the costs of boarding for the dogs in overflow in our care...
