Nanook is a beautiful mature male Samoyed mix who has recently arrived in rescue. This fellow was left to his own devices when his owner became ill, and has spent a lot of time on his own over the last year. Nanook is a friendly fellow who has a nice temperment. He gets along well with cats and other dogs, and has a nice on and off switch. Nanook was very shy when he first arrived, but he has really come out of his shell since then! This young fellow is quite spunky and playful. Nanook loves to play fetch and would chase a ball for hours and hours on end. He bonds quickly and closely, and is very attentitive to his people. Nanook is fine with older children but would be best suited to a home with kids in their older teens. While Nanook can be spunky and active when you get him going, he has a beautiful off switch and he really knows how to settle. Nanook absolutely lavishes affection and is quite happy to wind down for a little extra attention. It doesn't take much to get this fellow going and Nanook can be surprisingly puppish when he wants to be! Nanook is very loving and will bond easily with anyone who would give him a little love. Nanook is very good on leash and does come when called. This fellow has not spent a lot of time indoors over the last year, but has been very clean so far. Nanook is completely housebroken and he is very well mannered indoors - he can be trusted alone in the house without any concern. He also knows how to sit, down, shake-a-paw, stay, go-to-bed - and likely has some other tricks under his belt we just haven't discovered yet! Nanook will sleep in bed if he's invited (and likes to sneak in at 6:00am even if he isn't!) Nanook's coat was also subject to some rough treatment over the last year, and he had to be shaved to remove matts and stains from his fur. With a little time, this handsome fellow will be sporting that gorgeous full coat again. All in all, Nanook just wants a lap to snuggle in - and someone to snuggle with! (Indoor Home Only!)
