 Mara was brought into the vet clinic in bad shape, and she was scheduled to be put to sleep. She was weak and malnourished upon arrival, but the clinic felt she had a chance... Mara spent her first three days at the clinic simply sleeping and recouperating. With time invested by the vets, Mara was already well on her way to being a healthy, happy girl when she arrived in rescue. Mara's foster mom has put a lot of time into her care and training as well, and Mara has grown into a wonderful dog! She loves to be with people and is an all around happy girl. She is housebroken and will have accidents only if she isn't let out right away when she asks. She will steal your heart in a second - she simply adores everyone she meets! Mara can be shy with kids at first, but warms up to them very quickly. She is wonderful with other dogs and enjoys playing with Harlow, the other dog in her foster home. Plaing with him and chasing a ball are way up there at the top of her favorites list! Mara isn't really interested in cats, but will chase them if they run. She loves to chase little little critters and bugs in the yard, and will even chase dragonflies! Mara is a smart girl, and she listens well. Mara walks wonderfully on leash, and will come right away when called, Mara has also mastered the sit command and is learning more everyday! She does have one physical quirk, which is not obvious at a glance. Her top jaw does overlap the bottom, a defect she was born with. Mara does not have any problems with this at all, and has no difficulty eating, or chewing on toys and bones. Mara is a wonderful young girl with a very sweet and loving personality.
