Those who ask what difference does it make saving just one have not witnessed the joy of the one who is saved!

Cocker Spaniel - Female - 1.5 years old (Born July 2008)
Height: 14-15" | Weight: 25lbs

Emmy is a gentle little cocker spaniel that has recently come into rescue. Emmy was surrendered to rescue when she started to "act out" in her home, competing with a toddler and a newborn for her owner's attention. Emmy is quite a needy dog, and she seems to need a lot of attention and reassurance. She is a dog with a very soft temperment and a submissive approach. Emmy is quickly convinced to be friends when she gets a little love and attention. Three different situations Emmy has been placed in have all had problems with her submissive peeing. Emmy's former owner had problems with her around the toddlers, and while Emmy is good with children, the excitement of young kids seems to be too much for her. We have also found Emmy can be shy with men. She does warm up to them eventually, but seems to take longer to trust men. While Emmy has had difficulty adjusting in a few different environments, her current foster mom has not had any problems with her. She has been social, outgoing and very interactive in her current foster home. She has a great on and off switch, and has been extremely cuddly with the teenager in her foster home. Emmy has excellent house manners, and is excellent in the crate. She is completely housebroken and well mannered. Emmy is absolutely wonderful with the other animals in her foster home. She is good with cats - she will occassionally poke them to see if they will play, but respects them when they are not interested in her. She is amazing with the other dogs in her foster home and simply LOVES other dogs. Previously, Emmy's description noted she would be best in a home with another dog. When a home came up that seemed perfect for Emmy in every way - except that no other dogs were present, and adoption was attempted. Emmy is now back in rescue and we are not willing to consider a home without other dogs for her. She really takes her lead from the other dogs in her foster home, and having another dog around that is well adjusted seems to make a big difference. Emmy has yet to meet a dog that she couldn't get along with - and a canine companion is a must! Beyond her love of other dogs, Emmy loves toys. She can make a game of most anything. Emmy tends to be a bit of a "food hound" and is always on the look-out for crumbs. This is another game that can take up oddles of her time. Emmy has a wonderful nature and a very loving disposition. She does need someone that is willing to show her some patience and understanding. While Emmy is the most loving little girl, she would do best with an experienced dog owner. Emmy is a great girl who is just looking for the right match for her. (Indoor Home Only!)
