Cisco (Black Lab X)
Description Last Updated: June 25, 2010
Those who ask what difference does it make saving just one have not witnessed the joy of the one who is saved!

Black Lab X - Neutered Male - 6 months old (Born January 2010)
Height: 13-14" | Weight: 27lbs (approx.)

Cisco is a new puppy who has just arrived in rescue after a terrible ordeal. This young boy was found stray out in the country, and he's not in very good shape. Cisco is very malnourished and needs some weight put on him. He also came in completely lame on his back leg. After having x-rays done on his back leg, we have learned that his leg was broken and fractured - and the damage wasn't recent. Cisco had been struggling for over a month with his leg badly damaged. The vet clinic was concerned his leg would have to be amputated, but went forward to try to save his leg. We were thrilled when Cisco's leg was able to be repaired in the end - he has had some reconstruction work and does have pins and metal in his hind leg... But after some rest and time, Cisco will be able to have full use of his hind leg. He is currently on painkillers and prescribed down-time - it will take six to eight weeks for Cisco's leg to fully heal. He is a very low key fellow at present - we are not certian if this is his real temperment or if it's a result of the pain he has been in. Cisco will need a lot of extra TLC and care for the next couple months. His leg should be healed by the end of August. He is available for adoption and can go into a new home before then, provided his adopters are prepared to give him the care and rest he needs while he heals. It's so sad that such a young boy has suffered so greatly at such a young age. Cisco is a little shy and hesitant with new people, but after a little coaxing he does warm up - and he is so very sweet! Cisco is a gentle little guy, who hasn't not had the opportunity to show us how playful or active he might be, because of his injury. Cisco is friendly with other animals - he likes other dogs and is very curious about cats, but again - has not been able to show us his true colors just yet. We are looking for a very special home for this young boy - until he is healed up, we will only be able to consider a home where he can get the rest and downtime he needs. Right now, Cisco could not handle an active home. Cisco is a very sweet young boy and he deserves all the love in the world! (Indoor Home Only!)
