Those who ask what difference does it make saving just one have not witnessed the joy of the one who is saved!

Shepherd X Basset Hound - Neutered Male - 2 years old (Born in 2008)
Height: 14-15" | Weight: 35lbs (approx.)

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship! Bogart was taken in to the "big house" when his owners decided they no longer wanted to keep him. We are told Bogart snapped at friend of his owners - but we have no seen any negative behavior in this young boy. This big fellow is long and low - he looks like he should be a big dog, but got stuck with the wrong legs! Bogart has a laid back and easy going nature. He is good off leash, but will wander if you don't watch him. This fellow LOVES to play - he will even chase a gopher or bird when he's in the mood! (He wouldn't know WHAT to do if he caught one though!) Bogart is happy to stick close to his people and wants to be with them - he can even be a bit of a protector when he wants to be. Bogard is quite active and playful, and he can really move despite being so low to the ground! Bogart is excellent with the smaller dogs in his foster home, and he does wonderfully with all of the smaller dogs he has been introduced to. He has been much fussier about larger canine companions - and if he was to go into a home with a large dog, he would do better with a more laid back, easy going larger dog. Bogart does wonderfully with other dogs at the off leash park, and seems to be a little more "snarky" with large dogs. Bogart is not afraid to stick up for himself and would not be suitable for a home with a feisty or confrontational dog. If another dog acted aggressively toward him he would react. Bogart would do fine in an only dog home. He has been exposed to cats and showed no interest in cats that ignored him at the boarding kennel. He will chase a cat that runs though, especially when the other dogs in his foster home get excited. Bogart bonds very quickly and closely with his people, and while his is friendly and pleasent with outsiders - his tolerance levels are not the same with people outside of his family. He would be an excellent dog for a single person or couple, and he would be a great little dog for protection! With his foster mom, he is a silly goof who listens well and corrects easily. Bogart is social with guests, but he does not tolerate teasing from people he doesn't know. We believe Bogart should not be in a home with kids, and would not entertain placing him with kids under the age of 15 years old. He seems to get worked up when kids are running and excited, and can be snappy in this situation. There was also an incident with Bogart at a baseball game - he did not respond well when one of the ball players came running in his direction. Bogard is a very well mannered boy in the house. He is completely housebroken and is crate trained too. Bogart can be playful and he loves to run out in the yard - you'd be surprised the speed he can get out of those little legs when he really wants to! Bogart does pull a little at the beginning of a walk, but tires quickly and the falls into a nice pace. Bogart is good off leash and has great recall - but he does need someone to keep an eye on him as he will wander off if you don't watch him. Bogart is actually a pretty cool dog! We don't have Bogart in a foster home yet and will update his description a little more when we do! (Indoor Home Only!)
