FUNDS
FOR FURRY FRIENDS RESCUES CATS EXCLUSIVELY FROM THE BRANDON AREA POUNDS
The
pounds are experiencing extremely high volumes of cats and we cannot keep up
and are powerless to save them all.
***We
are simply unable to accept owner surrender cats or found cats while
so many face death at our local area pounds!***
Please
note: Cats are marked application received when we have an application
in on a cat. If the application is approved, the next step is a two week trial
period, during which time the cat will be marked adoption pending on
the website. Once the two week trial is completed, the cat is marked adopted
and has officially left rescue.
Rachel
- Black DSH (Spayed) Rachel is a friendly young cat that found her way back into rescue when her adoptive owners failed to reclaim her at the pound. Unable to track down her adopter, she has made her way a full circle back into rescue. Rachel was one of 10 cats rescued in 2006 from an animal seizure which took place West of Brandon (in the RM of Cornwallis.) Rachel is about 2.5 years of age, and she is a very sweet and friendly cat. She loves people and seems pretty at home around other cats and dogs. Rachel has been moved into boarding, as her time was up at the pound - and she is now in need of a foster home or a forever home. Rachel is a vert friendly and affectionate cat, but she is cursed by the stigma which follows her coloring. While Rachel is a black cat, she is certianly not unlucky! She has escaped death twice - and this young cat really needs a home with a family who plans to keep her forever. (Indoor Home Only!) |
Ophelia
- Tabico DSH (Spayed) Ophelia came into rescue recently after a stay at the Brandon City Pound. This little lady has the most unique markings, with a beautiful mix of tabby and calico markings and cute little orange markings on her cheeks! Ophelia is only about 9-10 months of age, and she is still very much a kitten. She is active, playful and very friendly. Ophelia is curious about everything and must investigate everything at moves or looks interesting. She feels most things qualify as toys - but then her true love is food! While she is a lightweight little gaffer, Ophelia loves meal times and she is very fond of cat treats. (We have even considered auditioning her for a cat food commercial! Ha ha ha!) Ophelia is a very loving and affectionate girl who is always on the go. She is a very unique cat, and would make an excellent addition to any household! (Indoor Home Only!) |
Summer
- White with Orange DMH (Spayed) Summer has recently come into rescue when her adoptive home had a change of family circumstances. This young lady is simply beautiful and she really knows how to show-off those good looks - just check out her pictures! Summer came into rescue from a multi-pet home, but is still settling into her foster home. She is currently fostered with dogs and other cats, and seems very at ease with the dogs. Summer seems okay with the other cats around her, but shows little interest in interacting with them... She is still settling in though, and we will update this description as soon as she had been with us a little longer. Summer was a very outgoing and playful cat in her previous home, and we are sure these true colors will shine through once she settles in a little more. This striking young lady would make a wonderful addition to anyone home. (Indoor Home Only!) |
Ashton
- Siamese X ESH (Neutered) Aston is a beautiful male siamese mix who has just arrived in rescue. This cat is such a lovey boy! He can be a little shy in a new environment, which is pretty normal for any cat - but after a couple days, he is rolling around and acting like a goofball! Ashton is such a sweet and gentle boy. He loves people and enjoys the company of other cats. We are not sure how Ashton will be around dogs, but he did not seem bothered by them at the pound. We have learned Ashton is 7 years old - almost middle aged - which is very nice as he is settled and is through with kitten antics. Ashton is all about snuggling! We'll update his description after he has spent a little more time in rescue! (Indoor Home Only!) |
Ernie
- Seal Point Himalayan ELH (Neutered & Declawed) Ernie came into rescue in very poor condition. This beautiful 8 year old boy was picked up by animal control when he was literally frozen to the ground. Ernie's feet were frozen and torn, and he was in need of a groom. Funds for Furry Friends took Ernie in for a grooming and had him into the vet clinic to treat his frostbite and injury to his feet. He is now doing quite well, but will suffer some repercussions as a result of being out in -40 weather. Ernie has lost the tip of one of his ears, and is probably going to loose the other. The vets also suspect he will loose about 1/2 of his tail due to severe frostbite. Ernie's feet have healed but are still very tender - this will get better with time. This fellow is quite docile and sometimes has grumpy spells. Most of the time he is friendly and has quite a purr motor. Ernie is not a cuddly cat, but he does enjoy affection. Ernie seems to be okay with other animals but prefers his own space and would rather they left him alone. He would not be a good pet's playmate or companion, but would be okay in a home where the other animals were not overly interested in him. Ernie is ready to leave rescue and move on to a home of his own. S(Indoor Home Only!) |
Oreo, Spritz & Bits DSH (All Neutered) These three kittens are all males. Oreo is the black and white fellow in the next two pictures. He is quite friendly and he is quite affectionate. Spritz is shown in the next two pictures (enjoying his lunch) - he is the solid brown tabby. He is a little timid with strangers but he has settled into her foster home nicely. The little boy in the last two pictures is Bits. He is the grey tabby with white, and he is a very pretty little guy. Bits is the most timid kitten in the bunch, and he is very cautious of newcomers. He has settled in with her foster mom and will come around with a little time and patience. These abandoned kittens were very skittish when they first arrived, but the boys are now about 5 months old now and they have really come around since their arrival! It's time for these little ones to move on to their forever homes and find families of their own to bond with. |
| Tina
- Grey Tabby with White DMH (Spayed) Tina is a special girl who was born in rescue. She was adopted out and returned to rescue when her adopter's living circumstances changed. She is only a year old and Tina is a very striking cat. She has a beautiful medium length coat and Tina enjoys playing with toys. Believe it or not, this cat even plays fetch - and will chase and bring back a toy as many times as you will throw it! This little lady is very particular about her company - with some people, she is affectionate, loving and terribly friendly. With others, Tina is standoffish and uniterested. She seems to be a little fussy about her choice of company at times. Tina is not at all shy, but she does seem to go through an adjustment period moving from place to place. Anyone adopting this gal to a home with other animals must understand there is an adjustment period to her settling in. She is currently fostered with other cats and dogs - and she is settling in fine. Tina is a special young lady who will probably choose her own adopters! Please give this girl a chance - she is a very rare gem and quite a find! (Indoor Home Only!) |

Tigger - Brown Tabby DMH & Sunny - Brown Tabby with White DSH
(Spayed) The kittens in these pictures are so much cuter in person! These kittens have just reached 6 months of age, and they are all simply gorgeous cats! Tigger is the very tiny female on the left. She is very shy but once she gets to know you, she is a regular little snuggle-bug! Sunny is the young lady on the right. She is shy like her sister, but has been really getting past her shy demeanor in her foster home. Being squirmy little kittens, the pictures shown above offer nothing more than coloring - these little guys have a real "lynx look" and could even have some maine coon cat in them... Although they are far too small to be single breed maine coons! If you haven't had a chance to see them yet - these young cats are more than ready to move on to homes of their own. The kittens are fostered by Christine Hearn. Phone 571-0891 evenings and weekends - please call if you want more information or to view them. (Indoor/Outdoor Homes Preferred) |

Sencha - Orange and White DSH (Spayed) Sencha is a 9 month old cat who has grown up in rescue. She was part of a litter found out by the airport, and was brought into rescue at about 4 weeks of age. She is the last remaining of her litter, all named after types of teas. She is a very friendly little girl who can't wait for an opportunity to snuggle up in a lap. Sencha has grown up in a multi-pet household and is fine with both dogs and cats. She really loves to cuddle with the old golden retriever in her foster home! Sencha is a well behaved and is generally a calm and quiet cat. She is playful with the other cats in her foster home, but really prefers human company. Please call Cheryl at 727-3629 evenings or weekends or 728-2031 during the day to arrange to meet these sweet little bundles of fur. (Indoor Homes Only!) |
Nip - Grey
and White DSH (Spayed) - ADOPTION PENDING! Nip is a little princess. This dainty gal was rescued from the Brandon City Pound with her brother Tuck when she was only a wee belle. Nip is a very elegant, classy cat. She has a walk and a way about her that puts her in a class of her own. Nip is now 7 months old and she is a very sweet girl. Much more quiet and shy than her brother, Nip plays a different game. She is sneaky and flys under the radar when the other cats are up to no good! You see, Nip is far too classy to get into any mischief (wink*) and this little lady is just a prefect little angle. Nip is a great girl and she really is a wonderful girl. She does have a bit of a fettish for water - not bathing in it, but she does like to investigate teh plumbing and tries very hard to figure out how it all works. Nips is always interested in watching the water go down the drain, exploring leaky faucets and trying really hard to figure out just HOW the toilet flushes! Nip has her own sense of curiosity. She is a real sweetie but often gets overlooked, as her brother casts an awful large shadow! If anyone out there would like a classy little lady to add to their family - Nip might just be the purrrfect lady for you! (Indoor Homes Only!) |
Kit Kat - Torbie DSH (Spayed) Kit Kat is a beautiful Torbie with lovely markings, who is about 10 months of age. Kit Kat came from the local pound as very young kitten - she was one of a litter of five that came into rescue - no mother was found. She is much prettier in person and has lovely markings. She is a little bit shy adjusting to a new environment, and she may find interesting places to hide while she settles into a new home. This is short lived and if she's given a little time and space - she comes right out of her shell! Kit Kat is a doll! She currently resides in a foster home with her sister Reese pictured below, along with 2 other cats and a dog. She loves to explore and can often be seen wandering around the house checking things out. Give her a little time and before you can blink she’ll have you wrapped around her little paws . If she’s not cuddling on your lap she’ll either be wandering around the house exploring or finding a quiet place, to take a little “cat nap”. Come and meet this little one. She’ll just melt your heart. (Indoor or Outdoor Home Considered!) |
|
Reese - Brown Tabby DSH (Spayed) Reese is a sharp looking grey and white tabby who came into rescue as a very young kitten. A litter of five was picked up and no mother was found - she has grown up in rescue and is now about 10 months old. Reese has come leaps and bounds, as she was the most timid of her litter. She currently resides in a foster home with her sister Kit Kat pictured above, along with 2 other cats and a dog. She was cautious when she first arrived and did hide for the first day. She was dubbed the “untouchable tabby” - but not anymore! She is the most affectionate and biggest snuggler of the bunch. She is always looking for a lap to curl up on and is purring within seconds. Reese loves to have her belly rubbed. She can enjoy a good petting session any old time of the day! . She is a curious cat and loves to sit on your lap while you are on the computer. She might even want to sit in front of the screen as there might be a “mouse” to catch. Reese has just come leaps and bounds since she arrived as a scared little kitten, and she is now ready to find a place to call her own. (Indoor Home Only!) |
| Magnum
- Grey Tabby with White DSH (Neutered) Magnum is a laid back kinda guy. This big boy is almost invisible in his foster home, he never tries to go outside and he really is content to just lounge around the house and - well, you know... Just be a cat! Magnum is okay with other cats and dogs, but really would prefer they gave him his space. He will give them a warning if they are annoying him, but his foster mom says he's all talk, no action! Magnum is being fostered with a very young little girl, and he is happy to have hugs and kisses from her! In fact, Magnum even likes his belly rubbed! This fellow is a real people cat. He will soak up all the affection, attention, pats and cuddles he can get! This big guy just needs a place where he can lounge around and just enjoy the life of being a cat. (Indoor Home Only!) |
|
M&M -
Grey and White DMH (Neutered) M&M is a cute 3-4 month old kitten rescued from Brandon Pound. He is very active and playful. In fact he is always on the go which is typical kitten behaviour. He gets along well with other cats and dogs and is currently fostered with a houseful of other animals. He loves people and attention but does not sit still for long before he is on the move again. He has a medium coat length and is a pretty fellow. If you are looking for a young active cat to bring life to your home M&M suits the bill quite well!!! (Indoor Home Only!) |
| Zander
- Himalayan ELH (Neutered) Zander is a simply gorgeous cat. He has beautiful baby blues and a wonderful coat that is surprisingly easy to manage. This boy is a real doll, he loves people and is good with kids. Zander is an easy-going boy that is remarkably sweet natured. This fellow is absolutely beautiful and he is a truly outstand cat. He is social, friendly and outgoing! Zander gets very nervous around dogs and he needs a home where dogs will not be in his space. Zander is very affectionate and loves to be brushed and fussed over. He is a lap fanatic and just adores snuggling and hanging out with people. There is only one catch to Zander - we did learn, bringing Zander into rescue, that he does not move into a new environment easily. He spent the first week hiding in his foster home, and wanted nothing to do with the other felines where he was fostered. However he did begin to warm up after about a week - to both the humans and the cats in his foster home - and the longer he has been with his foster mom - the more personality we get to see... And does this fellow ever have personality! Zander may take a little time to adjust - but when he does, he is friendly with everyone. He has even been great with strangers and on trips to the vet. Zander is all about being comfortable - and once he settles in, he is one simply amazing cat! (Indoor Home Only!) |
|
Maui - Russian Blue (Spayed) Maui is a female Russian Blue rescued from Brandon Pound. She is around 1 year of age. Maui is a high strung adorable cat. She doesn't mind dogs as long as she's left alone and will play with other cats in the household as long as they understand she is the princess and when she wants to stop playing, have a bite to eat or nap she will do it regardless of what else is happening in the household. This sweet little girl is a real dream with people though and would love nothing more to spend an afternoon curled up near or even sometimes on a nice warm lap. (Indoor Home Only!) |
| Mabel
- Brown Tabby (Spayed) Just about the sweetest cat we have ever met - Mabel is an affectionate old lady who warmed her way into her foster mom's home when she wandered into her garage to take shelter from the cold and the snow. Mabel is an old gal who is 10 years old and she is missing the teeth on the upper left side of her mouth. (We can only imagine what caused this to happen, but the vets have said that her teeth are in good shape and did not rot out.) Mabel has poor eyes and is also developing cataracts. Don't let any of that fool you though - Mabel doesn't act her age at all. She is quiet, content and easy to have around - sometimes disappearing in your house. It takes very little to get her attention, and Mabel will run at the sound of her foster mom's voice, purring around her ankles. This little cat is fine with other cats and dogs, and likes everyone she meets. Mabel is confident and she is not a skittish cat. She is happy to just be and rule her own little kingdom. Mable is actually quite a small cat and this old girl just wants a home to retire in a spend the rest of her days, where she can keep warm and out of the cold, and have a family to love her. (Indoor Home Only!) For more information call Tammy at 727-8077. |
| Lola
- Brown Tabby with Orange (Spayed) Lola is one in a long line of cats we recently rescued from Brandon Pound. She has a beautiful medium length coat and is a friendly out-going cat. She has lived in both farm and home environments in her short life and is tired of moving. She would probably do well in either setting. She is seeking more permanent accommodations. She would probably be happier in a home with no other cats as she likes some personal space. (Indoor or Outdoor Home Acceptable!) If you can offer her a place please call Barb Rice at 728-1418. |
|
Shadow - Black (Spayed) Shadow was an owner surrender 10 year old cat. She is overweight but very very friendly. She is like a Garfield cat. She loves attention and is fine with dogs as she lived with one. She was surrendered due to severe allergies on the owners part where the doctor told them the pets must go. Shadow would love to find a new home of her own. Please can anyone offer Shadow a home? She is clean and well behaved in the house. Shadow likes people and loves to cuddle, but doesn't really appreciate the value of other cats in the home though. More of a lap cat than a playful one. Shadow has shown she is happiest when she is allowed to go outside and come in at her leisure. (Indoor/Outdoor Home Needed!) |

- Tortoiseshell DLH (Spayed) (De-Clawed) I was wondering if I could post a picture of our cat? We had a baby in December and the allergy tests have come back positive for our cat. We are not having a real easy time with this as I have 2 other children aged 4 and 11. We have a daycare in our home so if she could go where there would be children that would be great. She is a domestic long hair, black and tan, fixed and de-clawed. She is 3 years old. Very well mannered and great with our other 2 dogs. If you have any questions please phone Tracy Bugg 522-3184 Melita MB |
| Belle
& Jag - White part Siamese & Black DSH (Spayed) I have two female cats to give away to a good home. They can go separately but I would love to see them go together. Belle is an all white part Siamese cat, she is three years old with golden yellow eyes. She is strictly an indoor cat (her choice) must be brushed and well looked after. Being Siamese she is very timid, but is cuddly on her time. JAG is an all black cat with a few white hairs on her chest and bright orange/brown eyes. She is completely the opposite of Belle because she loves being outside and is great with people and children. She is also three years old. Both cats are fixed and have all their shots. They are great cats that need a loving home with lots of space. If anyone is interested could you please call 204-783-0784 or 296-0114 after 6pm. |
| Please do not forget our local Brandon Humane Society if there are no cats here of interest to you. |
