Andy is a simply adorable little maltese who made his way into our care when his owner was hospitalized, and is unable to care for him any longer. Andy has been through a lot and loosing his family, and is looking for a very special kind of home. Andy has lived with a senior citizen all his life and is used to a quieter home. He is a shy and gentle little dog - whom we are still getting to know. Andy has been through a lot. This senior fellow was diagnosed a while back with Cushings syndrome, and was in rough shape at the time of his diagnosis. He has been receiving treatment for some time now, and the vets say he is well under control on his medication. Andy was nearly bald when he was diagnosed, and his coat has already almost completely filled in. Andy came to rescue through the vet clinic he was attending. This little guy needs pills that cost roughly $60 per month, and he is will also need periodic bloodwork to ensure he remains balanced. Andy's owners took wonderful care of him when he was with them. He has even had dental work done recently - and unfortunately, and his little tongue flops out sometimes as a result. Andy has been eating canned dog food in his former home, but we will try him on kibble to see if he is willing to eat it. (Most dogs have no problem eating hard kibble, even if they are missing most of their teeth.) Andy is very sweet but he is also very nervous about all the change in his life recently. We will update his description soon with a little more infomation once he has settled in. (Indoor Home Only.)
